Cathi Davis has been selected as principal for Northshore School District’s Elementary #21, which will serve 500 students and is scheduled to open fall 2020.

Davis currently serves as co-principal at Kokanee Elementary. She has led Kokanee for nearly seven years where she fosters a safe, caring and inclusive environment in a building of nearly 800 students, representing more than 28 home languages and diverse learning needs, including a number of Northshore's special services programs. Her achievements include implementing a Multi-tiered System of Supports framework to foster students’ sense of belonging, positive social skills and behavior; growing teachers skill sets through coaching, observations and evaluations focused on student engagement and learning; and leading the implementation of professional learning communities and building an equity team aligned with Northshore's equity policy and strategic plan.

“The experience Cathi has gained during her principalship at Kokanee as well as her knowledge of the community in the north end of the District made her a great match for Elementary #21,” said Regional Assistant Superintendent, Obadiah Dunham. “I look forward to working alongside her as the vision for our newest school evolves.”

Prior to her experience in Northshore, Davis held numerous positions in the Bellevue School District for 10 years including: elementary school teacher, reading specialist, administrative intern, interim assistant principal and principal, middle school teacher and instructional technology curriculum leader at the middle level.

Davis earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Houghton College (2001). She went on to earn her master’s in educational leadership and policy studies with an emphasis on social and cultural foundation of public education from the University of Washington (2006). Additionally, she earned her K-12 Administrative Certificate through the University of Washington’s Danforth Educational Leadership Program.

"Planning and opening Elementary #21 is a unique and exciting opportunity,” said Davis “I am eager to collaborate and build community with our parents, students, staff and District community partners in support of all students and to provide a world class learning experience for our future leaders."

With Davis’ move to Elementary #21, Kokanee Co-Principal Joel Fagundes will assume the role of principal at Kokanee.

Elementary #21 was approved by voters in the 2018 election as a step to help ease the crowding in schools on the District’s north end. The site is also slated to become a shared campus with a new middle school, pending voter approval of a future bond.
