They may be gone, but they will never be forgotten.
Northshore School District and a dedicated group of community members are working together to create a memorial honoring Northshore students who gave their lives serving in the United States Military. The memorial will be built near the entrance to Pop Keeney Stadium and will be comprised of a granite monument and bench.
If you know of a Northshore student who was killed in action, please contact VFW Post 4314 and provide them with the service person’s name, school, last enrolled year, grade level, and proof of eligibility. Eligibility requirements include having been a Northshore student, killed in action on active duty and while on duty. Names will be added to the memorial on an annual basis.
The monument is designed to be a curved granite wall made up of three sections. Names of fallen soldiers will be engraved on the left and right sections. The front middle section will be engraved with the following:
"In Memory of our fallen Northshore School District classmates who lost their lives fighting for our country. They gave the ultimate sacrifice, and we will be forever thankful.
In Honor of the men and women from Northshore School District who have served honorably and courageously to protect our freedoms and liberties while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States."
The back middle section will be engraved with "They may be gone, but they will never be forgotten."
